Puddle Ducks recently teamed up with NCT Abingdon Big Push to raise awareness and funds to support postnatal depression.
Postnatal depression is a type of depression that many parents experience after having a baby. The NCT estimate that one in 10 women go through postnatal depression within a year of giving birth. Although less common, it can also affect dads and partners.
Therefore, in June 2018, Puddle Ducks and NCT Abingdon families worked together for the Big Push and raised around £650.
The Big Push is a fun, accessible 5k walk/buggy push to raise funds and awareness of postnatal depression and isolation in new parents.
Parents and families took part in the event by walking, buggy pushing or scooting around the stunning Albert Park, town centre and Abbey Gardens.
Beccy Stenson from Puddle Ducks said: “We have been working alongside and supporting the NCT for some time and were delighted to be able to get involved with this fun event.
Although postnatal depression is very common, there is still a stigma attached to it. So campaigns like The Big Push are really important to get the word out that help is available.
This cause is very close to our hearts. Each and every day we try to positively encourage parents and babies to bond by relaxing and having fun”.
Puddle Ducks take a holistic approach to a mum’s physical and mental wellbeing, providing infant swimming lessons that give both mums and dads the opportunity to bond with their baby.
